Munira Peermohamed
Munira Peermohamed has over 30 years of experience as an Environmental Public Health Professional. She received her Diploma in Environmental Health Technology from British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1985, allowing her to complete her certification from the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors. Additionally, Munira is a Certified Professional of Food Safety (NEHA), a Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (FDA) and holds a CDC Certificate in Epidemiology.
Munira has worked with the local health authorities for over 22 years as: food specialist/educator; adult/childcare consultant; recreational, housing and personal services specialist; and as an outbreak coordinator. During her employment with the local health authorities, Munira worked with the provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons on infection prevention & control, and equipment reprocessing complaints. Throughout her employment with the local health authorities, Munira was involved in the decision-making local/provincial regulatory committees and projects.
Munira’s experiences also include third party audits of a major international hospital; large educational institution; adult care facilities; medical clinics/dental; and major oil and gas company workcamps.
In her voluntary projects, Munira has worked extensively on public health projects for mass gatherings, emergency response, infection prevention and control, H1N1 awareness materials, and seniors’ health.
Munira is driven to ensure that public health environments meet or exceed all health and safety requirements. She possesses the training, certification, and experience to deliver public health safeguards. And, Munira has extensive history of involvement in various health and safety programs as professional and volunteer service provider.
